Description

This dragon was made entirely without a pattern, using materials that I had at home already. He is completely fiberfilled with the addition of three hand made weights (tinfoil, sand and packing tape) that are to be found in the base of his tail, and each of his feet. His head started with an armature of soft plastic (a margerine container cut up with duct tape to secure). His head and body use 1/2 " foam sheeting as well to smooth out curves and TimTex for stiffening when needed ( eg, horns and nails) His purple head and all the green on him is spandex. His body is nubbly tweed and melton cloth. His wings are made of a novelty fabric. All long body seams were sewn by machine where the rest of the sewing was entirely by hand. His mouth interior is made of satin with sculpty teeth and he is covered ( encrusted in some places by sequins and beads)(Sequins were the only thing I ran out of and had to purchase. His eyes are buttons from my mother's Sunday Coat from the 1970's painted yellow and a sharpie marker made the pupil. All shading on him was done with artist's chalk applied witha brush. He was then sprayed with two coats of fixative to protect the detailing and act as a stain resister as I plan to keep him around for a while. He stands 15" tall and is a solid 4 lbs. My son Ian named him Amythorne for the amythest we have an abundance of here and horne for his horns. My daughter shutterbug13 did the photos for me and a lovely husband took care of everything else so that I could take the time to deviate and create.:)
